November to May is the dry, gentle season. July to October is storm season, and the crossing closes when the sea turns — build a spare day into any plan.
No ATMs, no malls, patchy signal. Carry what you need in pesos, and more drinking water than you think.
There is no garbage truck on the sand. Whatever you bring, you carry home. Leave the beach cleaner than you found it.
People live here. Say hello, hire local boatmen, buy from the sari-sari store. Your visit should reach the island, not just pass through it.
